Bringing things to life, both old and new, excites me. I find this to be true in my personal art work, in my academic life, and in my work as a design professional. I have a desire to produce positive and well informed work that touches the lives of those who need it most. The challenges of our world are endless, but I believe that there is no limit to what is possible when creative minds come together. I am hopeful that you will enjoy my work! 

biography

Larrie King was born and raised in Leesville, Louisiana. He attended Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana, where he earned both his BFA and MA degrees while studying fine art, graphic design, and theatre. He went on to teach graphic design at Northwestern State upon graduation. In 2012, King moved to Ohio to pursue his MFA in Visual Communication Design at Kent State University, which he completed in 2014. He served as an Assistant Professor of Design for the program, as well as Creative Director of Glyphix Studio, a historic student-staffed design agency in downtown Kent, Ohio, for the last six years. Larrie’s areas of design expertise include brand development, environmental design, illustration, and design research.

Along with teaching and practicing as a freelance designer and researcher over the years, he has also exhibited work as a painter and illustrator. His work has been featured at universities and galleries in the state of Louisiana, as well as throughout the nation. Many of these works can be seen in the Fine Art section of this site, including works from King's most recent exhibition.

King’s personal interests include painting, sewing, music, illustration, and baking. He is an alumnus and former president of Kappa Pi, International Honorary Art Fraternity, Gamma Mu Chapter, as well as an alumnus and former historian for Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Marching Band Fraternity, Theta Nu Chapter, and an honorary member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Gamma Rho Chapter.

Currenty, King is serving as Senior Graphic Designer for Wonderland, an Orlando-based marketing agency.
